FUNDRAISING
North West gymnastics is a privately own business. North West Gymnasts’ Supporters Group holds their own identity.
SAFETY
Your safety is of paramount importance to our staff and management. Parents are encouraged to watch training sessions from the designated seating area. Unless specifically requested (or part of a Jungle Gym class), please refrain from entering the fenced training area. The car park can be quite busy, particularly at the end of each class, so children should always be collected from inside the club, and never met outside in the car park. For their own safety all children must be supervised whilst in the spectator areas of the club. Please do not allow children to run, play, or climb inside the building. Your co-operation in abiding by these conditions is appreciated.

We trust that our programs provide the enjoyment and challenge that you or your child are seeking. The co-ordination, flexibility, fitness, and discipline learned through gymnastics forms an excellent basis for other sports, or as a unique and challenging sport within its own right.

GYMNASTS CODE OF CONDUCT
· Play by the rules
· Treat all participants in the sport as you would like to be treated.
· Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not only to please parents and coaches.
· Respect all coaches and participants during trainings and other events.
· Take responsibility for your decisions and actions of your sport. Understand that
failure to follow instructions and act according to the rules may lead to a change in class.

GYMNASIUM RULES
· Registered gymnasts and coaches are only permitted in the gym room, with exceptions to Jungle Gym classes, and Birthday Parties.
· No food or drinks are to be taken into the gymnastics room - Water Only
· No children are to be left at the club unsupervised, other than those participating in classes at the time.
· Parent and coach interaction regarding gymnasts will not be tolerated. All enquires from parents are to be brought to the Head Coach & from there, feedback will be given based on information obtain from the class coach. At NWG we take pride in ensuring our coaches are up to date with the correct knowledge to get the best from your child. I'm sure you can respect that the training that is provided does not at this stage cater to the emotions involved in confrontation and therefore we ask that you speak with someone equipped with the skills to answer your questions and concerns, this being the head coach.
· If your child has a problem or you have a complaint please arrange an appointment to meet with the Head Coach, or forward it in writing. DO NOT APPROACH INDIVIDUAL COACHES.
· Gymnasts must arrive to training on time. At the beginning of each lesson the gymnasts are briefed on what will be happening and what is expected of them, this is very important and your child must not miss this. Ensure your child is picked up on time, if there is a delay please ring the club. Late fees apply.
· The club does not provide child minding facilities or have staff available to supervise gymnasts outside their training times. For safety reason children are not allowed outside of the gym room until they have been signed out.
· Competition nomination fees vary and are expected to be paid 8 weeks prior to the event. Competition Nominee's will be determined by scores received at an in-house competition. Leichhardt and Hughenden Gymnastics Competition is encouraged and open to all Mag & Wag Levels regardless of their prior experience and in-house competition scores.
For all Gymnasts training levels, their levels will be determined by the Head Coach based on judging facts and skill readiness shown.
These rules are enforced for your child's safety. Your co-operation in these matters would be greatly appreciated

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT
· Remember that children participate for their enjoyment, not yours. Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
· Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence.
· Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition.
· Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performance by all participants (including apposing participants).
· Respect all coaches and judges decisions and teach children to do likewise
· Be a positive role model
· Allow fellow parents the respect they deserve in their viewing or involvement in their child's participation. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability and background.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
1. Remember this is your child's thing. There are times when obvious strong intervention by parents is called for and timely. In any case please feel free to check out the credentials of the program and coaches who are in charge of your child. Coaches and parents need to remember, that although the youngster is not the coaches child, he/she it the coaches gymnast. This is a subtle but important difference in a sport as demanding as gymnastics.
2. Encourage, transport, show interest, but don't intrude. Your child may very well quietly resent interference while tolerate it on the surface.
3. Respect the coaches wishes on encouraging independence whilst training and competing. Trying to get your child's attention during these times is inappropriate and should be avoided. As a coach we understand nobody knows your child better then you do in most situations. However, consider that your child's coach will make decisions in the best interest of yours and all other gymnasts, your support is greatly appreciated.
4. Take advantage of any coaches or judges courses that arise. This is a great way for parents and gymnasts to understand why coaches and judges make the decisions they do.
5. It is likely that your child (especially gymnasts training more than one day per week) will have a “bad day/training”, this is expected. Understand that gymnasts are under great pressure in a sport as challenging as gymnastics. Goal setting is a great thing though can be very frustrating when obstacles arise. As a parent you can only support and encourage without getting to involved, if these bad trainings persist please see your child's coach.

REGISTRATION FEES & LEVY
EVERY gymnast must be registered with Gymnastics Queensland. This registration fee covers any injury sustained at training, displays and competitions. For more details of this insurance coverage visit the Gymnastics Queensland website.

Training fees are payable for all North West Gymnastics classes in accordance with the following principles:
- Term training fees take into account public holidays and other planned holidays as set by coaches (normally these align with school holidays), with the exception of Christmas holidays.
- Term training fees once paid are NOT refundable, except under extenuating circumstances. An application must be made in writing to the Management Committee requesting a refund of unused training fees, and detailing the extenuating circumstances. Any refund approved will be subject to a 20% administration fee, which will be deducted from the refund amount.
- In line with our community based philosophy, arrangements may be made for those with difficulty meeting term training fee payment obligations. Be aware however, this may result in your child/children being unable to partake in other NWG related events and/or activities untill full payment has been made.
Confidentiality will be maintained by North West Gymnastics staff in all dealings with training fees. ALL OUTSTANDING FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL (or arrangements made) BY THE DUE DATE OR GYMNASTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TRAIN. Any fee's without prior arrangement will encore 20% overdue fee for each week they remain outstanding.
Gymnasts will not be permitted to attend any North West Gymnastics related events if their fees are not paid in full by close of nominations. Eg. Competitions, training camps etc.

GYMNAST’S TRAINING ATTIRE
For safety reasons, gymnasts in all programs are required to wear suitable clothing while training. Clothing should be stretch fabric or loose fitting enough to allow movement, but not baggy to the point of posing a safety hazard. Female gymnasts should wear a leotard or singlet, crop top, bike pants, or tracksuit pants. Male gymnasts should wear t-shirts or singlets, shorts cut above knee height (eg. gymnastic competition pants or rugby-style shorts), or tracksuit pants. Underwear must be worn for all classes – boxer shorts are considered unacceptable. Footwear is not required as training is all performed indoors, however socks and/or gym shoes are optional. All gymnasts should have their hair styled neatly and tied with a hair band if necessary. No jewellery (watches, rings, bracelets, dangling ear-rings) should be worn.
Coaches are required to check for compliance with these dress requirements before each class commences. North West Gymnastics reserves the right to restrict participation in certain types of activities or to exclude a gymnast from participating in the class if dress requirements have not been met.
Bars: Level 3 Gymnasts have the option of purchasing grips. Parents, please consider guards are for most gymnasts hard to get used to, and there for in several occasions purchased and left unused. At NWG it is compulsory for Level 4-10 Gymnastics to wear guards
Competing gymnasts Level 1 – 10 need competition leotards, NWG shorts, white socks and Club polo. Hair to be tied back with NWG color ribbons (black and white/silver)if necessary, and minimal or no make up. In the event that your child qualifies for state championships a club tracksuit and white sneakers are needed. Gymnasts nominations will not be accepted if they do not have full competition outfit.
